Mads Barth-Mathias, CPDT-KA

Mads is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) who joined Wiggle Butt Academy in 2024. They are also pursuing their Family Dog Mediator certification through Kim Brophy’s L.E.G.S Applied Ethology course. They offer training in manners and reactivity for dogs of all ages, Canine Good Citizen training, Trick Dog training and more!

Mads has owned pets throughout their life, and entered the pet care industry when they became a dog walker in New York City. They became very interested in helping the reactive dogs in the unnatural urban environment. They enrolled in CATCH Canine Trainers Academy’s Master Class program to start their education in dog training. During their time studying, they worked as a trainer at Instinct Dog Behavior & Training teaching puppies and foundational manners skills. In 2022, Mads moved to Dallas, and began teaching group classes in manners, tricks and fungility (fun agility). They also helped develop What A Great Dog’s Puppy Day School program.

Mads lives with their wife, Gracen, and their two dogs, Gambit (Chihuahua/Pit Bull rescue) and Bingo (Icelandic Sheepdog with a cleft lip). Their goal is to bring positive reinforcement to the forefront of the dog training world. They believe in approaching their clients, both dogs and humans, with patience and compassion.

CCPDT Credential

CPDT-KA stands for Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge Assessed. Those with this certification have at least 300 hours of dog training experience within the previous three years, obtain a reference from another CPDT-KA trainer or veterinarian, and agree to the certification council's Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics and Least-Intrusive Minimally-Aversive (LIMA) Behavior Intervention Philosophy. They have also passed a 180-question exam that tests them on instruction skills, learning theory, ethology, training equipment and animal husbandry. To maintain certification status, trainers must complete continued education credits or re-take the exam every three years.
