We're certified behavior consultants and professional dog trainers. We work in your home, your building, your block — because that's where the problems are.
Puppies. Socialization done properly, housetraining, biting and mouthing, building a dog who can handle the world instead of one who's been suppressed into tolerating it.
Everyday manners. Loose-leash walking, recall, greeting people without jumping, settling when the house gets busy.
Behavior concerns. Fear, leash reactivity, aggression, resource guarding, separation anxiety, conflict between dogs in the same household. This is our specialty, and we take cases other trainers turn down.

Meet Amber
Amber Wilson, BS, CBCC-KA, ACO is our Fort Worth behavior consultant, and her background is unusual for this work.
Before joining Wiggle Butt Academy she spent more than six years in municipal and nonprofit animal sheltering. She's a Certified Animal Control Officer through the Texas Department of State Health Services and Fear Free Shelters Certified. She holds a Certified Behavior Consultant Canine — Knowledge Assessed credential through the CCPDT, and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Tarleton State University.
That means she has spent years working with dogs experiencing fear, anxiety, stress and aggression — including bite cases — in the setting where behavior problems have the highest stakes. She has seen what happens to dogs whose families ran out of options.
She'd rather your dog never end up there. Most don't have to. Amber lives in Granbury with four dogs, a cat, and a 28-year-old horse.

How it works
1. Free Q&A call. Fifteen minutes, no charge. Tell us what's happening and we'll tell you honestly whether we're the right fit and roughly what it will take.
2. Consultation or first session. For behavior concerns, a full in-home assessment with a safety and management plan you can use that day. For puppies and manners, we start building skills immediately.
3. The work. In your home and neighborhood, at your dog's pace, with you doing the handling — because you're the one who has to live with the result.
Amber's rate is $180/hour, the Certified Behavior Consultant tier. Initial consults usually run 1.5 hours — $270 — including the full history, assessment, and a written plan. Follow-up visits are an hour.

What we don't use
No e-collars. No shock collars. No prong collars, choke chains or slip leads. Not as a last resort, not for "red zone" dogs, not ever.
Every member of our team is Fear Free Certified.
This isn't squeamishness. Aversive tools suppress the behavior you can see while leaving the emotion underneath untouched — or making it worse. A dog who stops growling hasn't stopped being afraid. He's stopped warning you. In a shelter setting, that's how bites happen.

Common questions
Do you use shock or prong collars if nothing else works?
No. Ever. There is no case severe enough that we reach for them, and we've worked bite cases.
My last trainer said my dog is dominant. Is that right?
Almost certainly not. Dominance theory came from flawed research on captive wolves in the 1940s and has been rejected by veterinary behavior organizations for decades. Dogs who lunge, growl or guard are usually frightened or frustrated, not staging a coup. The distinction matters, because the two call for opposite responses.
My dog has bitten someone. Will you still work with us?
Yes. Bite cases are within Amber's experience — she handled them for years as an animal control officer. We'll be honest with you about prognosis and about management, and we won't promise an outcome we can't deliver.
What's a behavior consultant, and how is that different from a trainer?
A trainer teaches skills. A behavior consultant works on emotional and behavioral problems — fear, aggression, anxiety — and holds credentials specific to that work. The CBCC-KA requires documented case hours, a proctored exam, and continuing education to maintain.
Do you come to Weatherford and Granbury?
Yes. Amber lives in Granbury, so the western side of the Metroplex is home territory rather than a long drive.
How much does it cost?

How long does behavior work take?
Depends on the dog, the behavior, how long it's been practiced, and how much you can fit into a week. Many families see meaningful change in six to eight weeks. Complex cases take longer. You'll get an honest estimate after the consult, not a package quote before it.
