Chelsey Tourtelot

Chelsey Tourtelot was raised in Richmond, Virginia but spent her summers at a Montana cattle ranch where she was born. She spent her life surrounded by dogs, cats, horses, and more, developing an interest in animal behavior at a young age.

After high school, she spent a few years in the food service industry before transitioning to working at a dog daycare and adopting her beloved dog Amadeus. Chelsey spent 3 years working in daycare in both Virginia and Texas, where she worked with large doggie play groups.

Amadeus passed away after 5 years of friendship, but during that time Chelsey brought a very scared dog out of her shell and helped her live her life to the fullest. Chelsey joined the Wiggle Butt team in 2022 and hopes to someday own and run a rehabilitation center for shelter dogs that are unable to be adopted due to fear or aggression.

Chelsey is a Fear Free Certified Professional.

We align with the Fear Free mission. We choose to minimize fear, anxiety and stress whenever possible. This includes using techniques or tools like e/shock collars, prong collars, etc. Completing the Fear Free Program allows trainers to work in partnership with families and veterinary teams to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress and improve an animal’s emotional wellbeing during veterinary care and home care. This certification program is designed to give qualified animal trainers the knowledge and tools required to begin implementing Fear Free techniques with their clients’ pets at the veterinary hospital, through in-clinic training classes for puppies and kittens, and in day-to-day training of animals in the home.
